Day trip to local canyon. Private van for transport. About 2 hrs to the dock at the hydroelectric dam before a 2 hr boat ride up and down the canyon. At its highest point, the cliff is 1000m high and the water is 100m deep. Some cool formations on the cliff faces and lots of wildlife especially birds but also monkeys and a river crocodile. After the boat ride our van driver took us to 3 lookout points to see the canyon from above. What amazing views. Then 2 hrs back to San Cristobal de las Casas. It ended up being a 7+ hr day trip.
Late lunch/early supper at Cantaritos San Cristóbal, where I had a delicious alambre (basically taco filling on a hot skillet with tortillas on the side). Then walked up the hill to Guadalupe Church and went back to the artisan market to browse (and get some more churros).
